Canada invests $4.2 million in MHDV projects to boost zero-emission vehicle adoption
The Canadian government allocated $4.2 million for projects focusing on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDVs) as part of its $7.5-million investment to promote zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs).
Through the Zero-Emissions Vehicles Awareness Initiative, a total of $7.5 million was invested in 35 projects. These projects aim to raise awareness and educate Canadians about zero-emission vehicles, public charging infrastructure, and clean fuels.

“As Canadians use more e-bikes, e-buses, EVs, and chargers, the Government of Canada is investing in information and opportunities that will put Canadians in the driver’s seat on the road to a strong, healthy net-zero future for all our communities,” said Jonathan Wilkinson, minister of energy and natural resources in a news release.
Among the funded initiatives, Newcom Media, the publisher of Trucknews.com and Today’s Trucking, developed a new online platform, Zero In. It aims to increase awareness and adoption of zero-emission vehicle technologies in the trucking sector by offering content such as podcasts, videos, infographics, and case studies.
The other MHDV funding recipients include various initiatives and organizations involved in developing educational programs, creating tools and resources, and promoting ZEV technologies within the MHDV industry.
The other MHDV funding recipients will develop initiatives focused on advancing zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) technologies. For example, Clean Energy Canada will promote the adoption of low-emission and ZEV options by disseminating reports and case studies to key stakeholders.
Electric Mobility Canada will collaborate with the North American Council on Freight Efficiency to involve additional Canadian fleets in their 2023 Run on Less campaign. The Pembina Institute will research barriers to ZEV adoption in underserved communities and develop strategies to overcome them through targeted outreach and awareness campaigns.
