CarriersEdge inks deal with Canadian owner-op financial service group

MARKHAM, Ont. — CarriersEdge, a Canadian provider of online driver training services and ATBS Canada — an owner-operator business services firm — have formed a partnership that will make the latter’s content available through the CarriersEdge driver development system.

CarriersEdge will create an online financial and business management course for owner-operators, based on content from ATBS Canada’s highly successful Owner-Operator Business Manual. Focusing specifically on topics of importance to owner-operators, such as managing fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs; maximizing revenue; and understanding various business structure and financing options, the course will be designed to serve both individual owner-ops and the carriers they partner with.

ATBS is headed by former MacKinnon Transport exec Ray Haight.

As part of the deal, CarriersEdge will also provide copies of the ATBS manual to fleet customers signing up for its subscription service.

“Our fleet customers have been asking for more tools to help their owner-operators with business and financial management,” said Mark Murrell, president of CarriersEdge. “ATBS Canada offers an outstanding set of services for O-Os and we’re very excited to have their expertise available through our system.”

CarriersEdge subscription customers will automatically receive the ATBS Canada Business Management course as part of their subscriptions. Individual drivers, and CarriersEdge customers not currently part of the subscription program, can purchase the course separately.
