BURLINGTON, Ont. — The folks around Sheehan’s Truck Centre are trying to help their ailing colleague Nathan Diek salvage something from what could otherwise be a lousy Christmas season.

And you can help, if you’re in the ‘hood this Saturday. They’re holding a “Pancake Breakfast with Santa” from 8: 00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Port Nelson United Church.

It’s at 3132 South Drive in Burlington. Tickets are $10 each ($5 for kids) and there are door prizes as well as silent auction prizes.

All proceeds will go to Diek’s family.

Diek, as todaystrucking.com reported recently, is a diesel technician at this Volvo dealer who in early November was hit with nectrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating disease) and that he had to have his left leg amputated above the knee.

Upon hearing the sad news, his friends and co-workers leapt into help mode. The very first day, Sheehan’s service manager Marc Poland passed the hat at the monthly meeting of the Kitchener Waterloo Automotive Transportation Service Superintendents (ATSSA). That raised a quick $800.

Poland says you certainly don’t have to attend the breakfast to help the Diek’s have a merrier Christmas. You could just donate.
