HENSALL, Ont. — The private fleet of Hensall District Cooperative (HDC) has announced it is equipping 70 of its trucks with Shaw Tracking’s Mobile Computing Platform 200 and will automate driver logs.

The Shaw system will be integrated with Hensall’s existing software and dispatch systems to improve operational processes, the companies announced. Hensall said it will also be using Peformance Monitoring, Critical Event Reporting and Speedgauge applications to improve driver safety.

The company also announced its intent to eventually employ Shaw’s Navigo navigation system to reduce out-of-route miles.

“HDC is always looking for ways to strive for continuous improvement in employee safety, customer service and operational efficiencies,” said Mike Millian, driver and vehicle safety, HDC. “We believe Shaw Tracking has the same commitment towards these values and that Shaw Tracking will be a valuable partner in helping HDC to continue improving on our already excellent safety and compliance record.”

HDC is a member-owned Co-op in southwestern Ontario transporting petroleum, propane, feed, bulk grain and agricultural products. Its fleet travels more than five million kilometres a year.
