PMTC inducts truckers to Hall of Fame

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. — The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada inducted two drivers into the Hall of Fame for Professional drivers during its annual conference in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.

The Hall of Fame, sponsored by Cancom Tracking, and recognizes superior over the road performance by drivers whose companies are members of the PMTC. The concept for the Hall of Fame was to provide a more permanent recognition of their abilities that that afforded by an award in a single year.

Dick Jansen of Praxair Canada was the first driver inducted in 2006. Jansen operates tractor-trailer units in tandem, tridem, and B-Train configurations for Praxair Canada in Edmonton. He loads, conducts quality testing, transports, and delivers liquid carbon dioxide from Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. to the greater metropolitan Edmonton area and other points in Western Canada.

Dick has a remarkable 29 years safe driving award; is the recipient of the Praxair million mile award; has accumulated two million miles without a preventable vehicle collision; and of course has a clean abstract.

Larry Sedgwick of Advantage Personnel, driving for HBC Logistics, was the second driver to be chosen for the HoF. Toronto born Sedgwick, a truck driver for 35 years, recently received his 33 safe driving award from the Transportation Health and Safety Association of Ontario.

He began his driving career with Simpson’s in 1970 and moved to the HBC fleet in 1985. He has a clean driver’s abstract and both Advantage Personnel and HBC Logistics are proud to acknowledge his contribution to the success of their operations.
