Senate confirms Ferro to FMCSA top job

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate has confirmed former Baltimore Trucking Association president Anne Ferro’s nomination to lead the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee confirmed the nomination last week.

Following her nomination, Ferro had come under fire from unions and special interest groups for being too close to the trucking industry.

There were reports in Washington last week that suggested The Teamsters and Public Citizen agreed to stand down on the Ferro nomination if the DOT made a deal to rewrite the hours-of-service rule.

All that remains before Ferro takes office is a swearing-in ceremony.
