The Purolator team from the Metro West depot in Etobicoke, Ont. donated $10,000 to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada.

The money was raised through a fundraising initiative started by the terminal last year, with the goal of contributing to deserving causes and engaging with employees, Purolator told TruckNews.com.

The competition allowed winning employees to select a charity or cause of their choice to receive the funds raised. The winners — Adrian Mitchell, an AM dock lead hand, and Anthony Sukhai, an operations manager — chose the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada.

”I was deeply honored to join my colleague Anthony and donate $10,000 to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada,” Mitchell said in a news release. “As a brain tumor survivor myself, this cause is incredibly personal and significant to me. It means a lot to be able to give back. When you overcome something like that, it makes you appreciate life more, and you feel like you need to give back in some way.”

Sukhai also has a deep personal connection to this cause due to a family member being impacted by a brain tumor.

The Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization dedicated to brain tumor research and helping Canadians affected by a brain tumor with support, education and information.
