PLOVER, Wis. — Women in Trucking has announced that its former chairwoman Ellen Voie has been named president of the organization.

Voie will be replaced as chairwoman by Leigh Foxall of Internet Truckstops. Debbi Sparks of the Truckload Carriers Association will serve as vice-chairwoman and Lenora Hardee of Navistar will hold the post of secretary/treasurer, the association announced.

“The ability to now hire a president is such a testament to our growth,” said Foxall. “In a year we have grown to 1,000 members, but equally important, we are getting the support from many corporations that believe in our mission.”

WIT is an organization dedicated to encouraging women to consider a career in the trucking industry and removing barriers they face. The group aims to highlight the successes and struggles encountered by women in a male-dominated industry.
