SAE gets grant
WARRENDALE, PA — The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) will be working towards the facilitating the transition of fuel cell vehicles into the marketplace.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded SAE International approximately $700,000 over the next two years in cost-shared programs.
The Secretary of Energy announced $85 million in research awards would be given to 18 organizations and five universities to perform research and development on energy efficiency and clean energy science and technology. The fuel cell research will focus on overcoming technical barriers, such as cost, size, weight, to introducing these technologies to the marketplace.
Fuel cell technology is redefining the energy technology industry. Fuel cells have a wide potential use including heavy trucks, ground vehicles, bus, rail, transit and small engines.
