Saskatchewan railway crossings garner attention
REGINA, Sask. — The feds are doling out more than $2 million to help Saskatchewan improve its railway crossing safety.
Nineteen railway crossings across the province will receive attention, with improvements including the addition of flashing lights and gates, interconnecting crossing signals to nearby traffic lights, modifying operating circuits and installing new timing devices.
Transport Canada is funding the upgrades, and spokesman Lew Rogers says it’s in response to specific accidents that have occurred in the province.
