Shell lube meets Cat ECF-1 criteria
HOUSTON, Tex. — Shell Lubricants has announced that its heavy-duty Shell ROTELLA T 15W-40 multi-grade engine oil meets Caterpillar’s ECF-1 specification criteria.
The oil is also approved for use in all Caterpillar engines requiring the additional protection.
Created to help Cat engines meet 2002 emissions regulations, the ECF-1 (engine crankcase fluid) specification goes into effect June 1, 2003.
“These new requirements need a motor oil with excellent soot dispersion, wear control and piston deposit control,” said Dan Arcy, product marketing manager for Shell Lubricants.
“After completing the necessary testing, we are pleased to report that ROTELLA(r) T has surpassed all of the necessary performance requirements.
“This approval was especially significant for Shell because a large number of our ROTELLA(r) T customers are also dedicated Caterpillar customers. Consequently, they can continue to use our motor oil, without having to worry about maximum engine performance and durability.”
Arcy added ROTELLA T meets the warranty requirements of all major diesel engine manufacturers, including Mack, Volvo, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, International, Mercedes-Benz and others.
