Telus Mobility introduces new wireless data modems
CALGARY, Alta. — Telus Mobility has launched six new wireless data modems including several that are equipped with GPS capabilities targeting the oil and gas and transportation industries.
The rugged devices operate on Telus Mobility’s national 1X wireless data network.
“These new GPS data modems from Canadian companies Sierra Wireless and Cypress Solutions offer our clients on the road, in the field or in the plant the freedom of instant mobile connectivity to their offices, their co-workers or the world and further extend our lineup of the broadest roster of rugged wireless data devices in Canada,” said Robert Blumenthal, Telus Mobility’s vice-president of products and services.
The devices offer a wide variety of computing devices, the company says, as well as instant access to e-mail, the Internet, enterprise applications and database information. The GPS capability allows companies to improve fleet dispatch and tracking as well as reducing downtime and increasing productivity.
