ST. JOHN’S, Nfld. — Marine Atlantic has appointed James Doody and John Henley to its board of directors, each for a four-year term.

Doody is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland’s business administration co-op program, and became a chartered accountant in 1989. He currently is CEO of King Group of Companies in St. John’s, Nfld. He previously worked in finance and administration for the public sector, including the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as well as Newfoundland school boards.

Henley holds masters of science degrees in ocean engineering and ocean systems management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a bachelor of mechanical engineering degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He currently is vice-president, offshore services and corporate development, for G.J. Cahill Group of Companies. Henley has worked for a number of Canadian oil and gas companies as an engineer, and has held senior positions with Hibernia Management and Development, and Newfoundland Transshipment.

The board of directors responsible for overseeing the corporation’s management and ensuring that Marine Atlantic’s activities are in line with federal government priorities.

In 2006, the company’s vessels carried more than 405,000 passengers and 88,000 commercial vehicles.
