Volvo employees take part in annual motorcycle rally for America’s military
WASHINGTON D.C. — For the 17th year, employees at Volvos New River Valley (NRV) plant took part in the annual Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom motorcycle rally to honour Americas fallen and missing soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines in Washington, D.C. over Memorial Day weekend. Approximately 250 people gathered for a memorial ceremony on May 27 at the United Auto Workers Local 2069 union hall in Dublin, Va.
After the ceremony, more than 200 motorcycle riders, including more than 100 NRV employees, rode to Washington with a specially decorated Volvo VN 670 and a Mack CH midrise sleeper. All Mack highway trucks are built at NRV. Both trucks featured patriotic murals and illustrations honouring the sacrifices of Americas military personnel, with the motto, All Gave SomeSome Gave All. The trucks were developed by NRV in conjunction with UAW Local 2069s Veterans Committee.
The trucks also promoted the Wounded Warrior Project, a national effort to raise awareness and support for the needs of the men and women who have been wounded in the service of their country.
