MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Reefer Sales and Service, a company which sells and services temperature-control systems and related parts for the transportation industry, has welcomed Allen Smith to its team as vice-president sales, ComfortPro.

Smith will be responsible for further developing the companys business in auxiliary power units (APUs).
APUs are designed to reduce energy use and emissions by cutting down the need to idle the main engine.

Ken Henwood, president of Reefer, says Smith has been responsible for the development and sales of APUs for most of his career. He has played a major role in the growth of the North American APU market, Henwood said.

Before joining Reefer, Smith worked in sales at Teleflex Canada, selling APUs and diesel-powered engine coolant heaters. During his eight years at Teleflex, Smith moved from regional sales manager all the way to director of sales for truck products North America.

Smith is a member of the Truck Maintenance Council, American Trucking Associations, and has served on several idle-reduction committees, including the Canadian Fleet Maintenance Seminar.

Were so pleased to add Al to our team, Henwood said. The kind of experience he brings to us is unmatched. Hes the right guy at the right time.
