Workers based in Oklahoma who have recently lost their jobs may be eligible for free training or reduced tuition to become professional truck drivers through a new grant program.

Through the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, eligible state residents can obtain a commercial driver’s license from Central Tech’s truck driver training program.

“With a 99% placement rate, the program equips students with the skills and experience needed for successful careers in the trucking industry, combining hands-on training with expert classroom instruction,” Central Tech said.

Central Tech has 17 locations across Oklahoma, and students complete the program in 28 days. Students receive more than 60 hours behind the wheel and up to 10 road trips. Several of the locations also offer housing.
