GRAND BEND, Ont. — The Grand Bend Big Rig Nationals Truck Show is coming to the Grand Bend Motorplex Aug. 28-29.

The annual event, co-sponsored by Truck News, features a show and shine competition, wash and park, trade show, drag races and Saturday evening entertainment, the Nowhere Band.

Show and shine participants are to be judged in more than 20 classes, with some eventually putting the pedal to the metal in one of the event’s biggest draws: the drag races.

The races offer an opportunity for participants to see what their rigs will do on the quarter-mile strip. Participant times will be determined Saturday evening during time trails. In the official race, should participants face a vehicle that ran faster or slow in the time trials, the race computer will calculate the difference and give the slower vehicle a ‘head start’ equal to the difference.

The gates open Friday at noon for the trade show, show and shine, and wash and park. On Saturday, the gates open at 9 a.m. with racing starting at 11 a.m. On Sunday, the gates open at 9 a.m., with the official Big Rig Nationals racing beginning at 11 a.m.

Friday’s gate admission is $5, Saturday or Sunday is $15, and a weekend pass is $30. For children under 12, admission is $3 per day. For more information, visit www.grandbendmotorplex.com or call 519-238-7223.
