Halifax bridge tolls set to rise

DARTMOUTH, N.S. — Crossing the Halifax Harbour will soon cost truckers more, after Halifax Harbour Bridges’ was granted permission to raise tolls.

Truckers paying by cash will see tolls increase by 34 cents per axle effective Apr. 1, 2011. If using Macpass, commercial vehicles will see tolls increase 17 cents per axle on Apr. 1, 2011 and another 17 cents per axle on Apr. 1, 2012.

Steve Snider, general manager and CEO of Halifax Harbour Bridges said the toll increase “is necessary for the long-term maintenance of the bridges.”
