Carriers win awards from refiners and petroleum marketers

CALGARY — Four carriers have been singled out by the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute (CPPI) for safe practices in the delivery of petroleum products in 2010.

Collectively, Trimac Transportation, Bridgeway Transport, Petrohaul Ltd., and Scamp Industries, made 98,495 deliveries last year on behalf of CPPI member companies in Western Canada.

The carriers were recognized yesterday, at an awards luncheon in Calgary, for reductions in incident frequencies, overall safety performance, and the promotion of drive and fleet safety within the industry.

CPPI director John Skowronski and Heinz Nagel, the chairman of CPPI’s national distribution committee presented the following awards:

* Improvement award for reduced product mixes: Trimac Transportation;

* Improvement award for reduced product spills: Bridgeway Transport;

* Improvement award for reduced vehicle accidents: Trimac Transportation;

* Improvement award for reduced personal injuries: Petrohaul Ltd; and

* Best overall carrier: Scamp Industries.

CPPI represents Canadian refiners and marketers of petroleum products.
