‘THIS IS CANADA’

Up above, I wrote about how the extreme cold weather is impacting the trucking industry. It’s ugly out there. Marco Beghetto, v.p. of communications and new media with the OTA, said despite all the challenges, carriers and drivers are dealing as well as can be expected. He pointed out that how a company treats its drivers in the face of such challenges becomes a retention issue. And he closed with the following ode to profesional drivers. Marco…

“In the end, no one has forgotten this is Canada. And while it’s not the most ideal situation for driving, most guys know it goes with the territory,” Marco said. “Luckily, our industry is made up a hardy bunch of men and women who by nature know how to persevere and get the job done despite the challenges. It’s times like this that remind us that professional drivers are deserving of respect and need to be appreciated all year-round, not only during National Trucking week.”
