Video, of course, has been a big part of our company’s editorial output for several years. Our award-winning weekly WebTV show Transportation Matters is unique. It fits in with editorial director Lou Smyrlis’ belief that we have to tell each story in the best way possible, whether it be through traditional reporting, blogging, video – whichever platform works best. Here’s a review of the videos that garnered the most views on Trucknews.com:
#10: Build it up – Part 4: We visit J.F. Kitching & Son and talk to Lynn Paxton about the driver shortage and how this small Ontario construction fleet is coping.
#9: A new alternative: From sunny California, I report on a lesser-known alternative fuel that Volvo’s bringing to the market: DME.
#8: Erb pulls its weight: We visit Erb Transport to discuss the company’s wellness initiatives and its participation in the TCA Weight Loss Showdown.
#7: All about aero – Part 2: This four-part series on truck aerodynamics did really well for us, with all four segments cracking the Top 10. In the series, Volvo’s Frank Bio provides an overview of aerodynamics and their impact on fuel efficiency.
#6: SuperRigs shine: I reported from the Shell Rotella SuperRigs show in Tomah, Wisconsin. A shiny truck vid will always pull in the viewers!
#5: All about aero – Part 3: In part three of this series on truck aerodynamics, we explore the effects of the chassis fairings and trailer gap.
#4: All about aero – Part 4: In the conclusion of our series on aerodynamics, Frank Bio gives his Sharpie a good workout illustrating how specifications such as 6×2 axles can deliver further fuel savings.
#3: All about aero – Part 1: The best viewed of our videos on truck aerodynamics was part one, in which Volvo’s Frank Bio breaks out the marker and uses the hood of this VN as his chalkboard.
#2: Good vibrations: Adam Ledlow reports on a demonstration Bose conducted for Bison Transport, of its vibration-cancelling truck seats. Kathy Penner with a cameo appearance.
#1: Winging it: And our best-watched video of the year goes to…Mark Irwin’s snow removal system. And unfortunately, I can’t link to it at the moment because it’s down for maintenance. But believe me, it good! We’ll have it back up soon with a fresh link.
