ABS unveils lighter live bottom trailers

by Today's Trucking

ABS Trailers’ LRC product line is coming in lighter than the RC model of live bottom semi-trailers, and the company says the change has come without sacrificing robustness or durability.

The design is based on transversal I-beams that connect the conveyor system to the trailer frame, increasing the related strength by 30% over the standard model.

The subframe and other components are galvanized to protect against corrosion, while a direct conveyor connection increases unloading speeds by 16% when compared to the previous hydraulic block connection.

Pressure dials and connectors have been reconfigured, and a front access door has been added. A redesigned scraper mechanism, meanwhile, restricts residue that can otherwise accumulate on the belt. Door cylinders have also been relocated in the name of streamlining operation.
