CIFFA launches customs training program for logistics professionals
Canadian International Freight Forwarding Association (CIFFA) announced it will launch a new online training program for customs professionals in May.
The CIFFA Accredited Practitioner in Customs (CAPC) program is designed to provide practical, case-based training focused on applying customs regulations in real-world scenarios. The course content was developed by customs brokers and reviewed by trade lawyers. It will be delivered online and can be completed on a self-paced basis.
“At a time when compliance expectations are rising and systems are evolving, the industry needs logistics professionals who can apply — not just recall — customs regulations,” said Bruce Rodgers, executive director of CIFFA, in a news release.
The program covers tariff classification, valuation, origin, documentation, and compliance decision-making, mirroring the challenges faced in daily operations.
CIFFA said the program is intended for both new entrants to the industry and those preparing for the CBSA Customs Broker Licensing Exam.
