East narrow dump trailer sheds weight, stands strong

by Today's Trucking

East Manufacturing’s new Narrow Spec’ Dump Trailer (NST) offers a new option for hauling sand and gravel or commodity loads.

Using lighter-weight components, it offers a half ton of additional payload when compared to a standard 96-inch-wide aluminum dump trailer, depending on the incorporated options and features.

Like other frameless dump trailers from the company, the flooring and side is made with a premium aluminum alloy. The smooth-sided Genesis design also helps with cleaning and will not show dents from the inside.

The trailer’s two-inch-thick, double-wall extruded aluminum panels are robotically welded vertically both inside and outside, helping to resist twisting and enhancing durability, East says. The quarter-inch rear corner posts wrap around the top and bottom rails, and interlock to enhance strength and reduce side-to-side distortion. Lighter-weight sheet and post tailgate 90-degree wall joints are also continuously welded rather than stitch welded.

Options on the NST include standard or automatic lift axles, 12- and 20-inch coal/grain doors equipped with UHMW plastic bearings and grease fittings at the pivot point, and Zero-Maintenance Damping (ZMD) suspension air springs to replace standard shock absorbers. There’s also the option of a two-speed Jost Alumilight AX150 landing gear with a 10-year warranty.
