Fontaine retrofitting work trucks to electric power

by Today's Trucking

Optimal EV and Fontaine Modification Work Truck & EV Solutions are now offering to repower gas or diesel trucks to zero emissions electric power.

The new Optimal EV E1-R is based on the Ford E-450 cutaway chassis and can be integrated into a range of commercial and speciality vehicles at Fontaine’s network of modification centers.

Fontaine says the Optimal EV system is simple and clean, allowing for an efficient integration.

Initially, the E1-R powertrain will be offered on 2018-2023 model year Ford E-450 cutaway chassis, providing 280 kW power with 125 miles (201 km) of range. It features Proterra 113 kW batteries. Conversion begins with a detailed vehicle inspection, followed by installation of a new powertrain and user interface with refreshed components where required.
