Hankook Tire has introduced the SmartLine AL50, a new truck and bus radial (TBR) tire designed for the car hauler segment, focusing on long-distance durability and efficiency.

The SmartLine AL50, featuring a load range of 7,390 lb. per tire, is engineered with multi-season performance and advanced technology to enhance durability and safety for car hauler operations, according to a news release.

Featuring a three-peak mountain snowflake rating, it includes key innovations like stiffness control contour technology (SCCT) to manage internal forces and improve casing stability, hidden groove technology that boosts wet traction at 70% wear, and an innovative mixing system (IMS) that strengthens the bond between rubber and carbon black for better fuel efficiency and durability.

“Our SmartLine AL50 TBR product is another key step in our plans to further support the commercial transportation industry, especially across some of its more nuanced applications, such as the car hauler segment,” said Rob Williams, president of Hankook Tire North America, in a release.

Car haulers face challenges due to height restrictions and load-bearing stresses. The 60 series SmartLine AL50 (295/60R22.5) offers an advantage over typical 75 series tires, featuring a lower profile for better clearance and improved handling, the company says, adding that the tire boasts a three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) rating for multi-season performance.
