IPA launches compact Alpha MUTT trailer tester for semi-trailer diagnostics
Innovative Products of America (IPA) has introduced a compact version of its Alpha MUTT trailer tester, designed to deliver full diagnostic capability for semi-trailers in mobile service and shop environments.
The new #5410A Alpha MUTT with ABS Slim-Line retains the core functionality of IPA’s Mobile Universal Trailer Tester platform while reducing the unit’s footprint for installation on service trucks, tool carts, or maintenance bay walls.

Compatible with commercial semi-trailers equipped with air brake and ABS systems, the tester allows technicians to inspect trailer lighting, air brake performance, and ABS operation without connecting to a tractor. The system provides digital readouts for circuit status and faults, voltage and current measurements, air pressure readings, and brake leak-down testing.
“The Slim-Line Alpha MUTT is a full-featured trailer inspection system ideal for small service trucks, shop bay walls and other areas where space is limited,” said Ian Vinci, president of IPA. “With all the capabilities of our larger units, this model allows a shop to install the industry’s best trailer inspection system within any aspect of their operation.”
When paired with IPA’s diagnostic software and optional tablet, the system also enables electronic reporting of inspection results.
IPA says the compact design is aimed at fleets and service providers looking to perform comprehensive trailer diagnostics in the yard or field while minimizing equipment space requirements.
