J. J. Keller launches FMCSR compliance certification
J. J. Keller has introduced a new certification program designed to deepen their understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation and strengthen compliance practices. The Certified Transportation Regulatory Expert (CTRE) program provides advanced, in-person training and recognizes graduates as J. J. Keller Certified Transportation Regulatory Experts.
The CTRE program goes beyond standard memorization techniques and incorporates live drills, interactive lessons, tabletop exercises, and audit simulations to help participants apply the FMCSRs to real-world scenarios. The five-day, in-person program is held at the company’s Neenah, Wis., headquarters and includes small-group instruction, compliance resources, and ongoing regulatory updates.

The curriculum spans FMCSR structure and interpretation, DOT registration, insurance and recordkeeping requirements; driver qualification and drug and alcohol testing, Clearinghouse protocols and audit exposure prevention; hours-of-service rules, exceptions, and log auditing; vehicle and hazmat compliance, and enforcement preparedness, including CSA scoring, audit preparation, and strategies for responding to Notices of Violations and Claims.
“Fleet professionals are under constant pressure to maintain compliance while managing operational demands,” said Dustin Kufahl, vice president of consulting and training services at J. J. Keller. “The CTR Certification Program gives them the tools, knowledge and confidence to not only meet the regulatory requirements, but to excel as leaders in their organizations. On top of that, they earn an industry credential recognizing their achievement… It’s a career accelerator. Participants walk away with practical strategies to reduce legal risk, improve safety practices and protect their fleets from costly violations.”
