Lytx adds drug and alcohol clearinghouse tool

by Today's Trucking

Lytx is adding to its compliance services with the new Lytx Drug and Alcohol Clearing Service to meet the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.

Carriers need to query the online database before hiring a driver, and once per year for existing drivers.

Motor carriers that violate the rule – or access a driver’s record without gaining proper written consent from the driver – could be fined up to US $5,833 per violation, Lytx notes.

The new service manages the process, conducting the annual queries, ensuring driver consent, and provides an escalation path to be followed in the case of a violation. Lytx also adds the resulting documentation into each driver’s qualification file. Through its Driver Qualification File Management Service, it then manages and conducts audits on the documents required by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The Driver Qualification File Management Service also notifies fleets when items are due, files are non compliant, or documentation is missing.
