Mitsubishi Brings Sunshine Powered Savings to Medium-Duty

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — That big yellow ball in the sky? It’s got a lot of energy in it — energy that Mitsubishi Fuso says can power those auxiliary systems on your trucks, meaning less of a power drain from the alternator or reliance on standalone diesel generator systems.

The truck manufacturer announced today a partnership with eNow, a relatively new clean-tech company that makes solar-powered tech solely for the transportation industry.

Mitsubishi will offer a range of solar-based auxiliary power system options for the Canter FE/FG Series medium-duty commercial trucks. Applications range from 30-watt systems to help keep batteries charged, to 6,400-watt systems capable of powering liftgates and refrigeration systems, Mitsubishi explained.

The systems will also help with idling and emission regulations compliance, noted Mitsubishi.

Todd Bloom, Mitsubishi Fuso president and CEO, said that the systems are not only “environmentally sound technology,” but they also solve “specific operating issues for some of the auxiliary equipment our customers install on their trucks.”

“It’s a move that makes great economic sense and helps efforts to reduce targeted emissions,” said Jeff Flath, CEO of eNow.

The systems will be available at Mitsubishi Fuso dealers in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
