Polaris launches carbon calculator feature for shippers

Ontario-based LTL carrier Polaris Transportation Group has introduced a carbon calculator feature on its customer portal, enabling shippers to track emissions for specific freight movements.

The tool calculates emissions using actual shipment data — including route, weight and date range — providing shipment-level insights rather than general estimates.

The company said in a news release that the feature is part of its sustainability plan, designed to give customers greater visibility into freight-related emissions and support environmentally conscious planning and reporting efforts.

“Access to reliable emissions data is essential in today’s supply chains,” said Polaris sustainability manager, Fulya Karakas-Akgun. “Our Carbon Calculator will empower customers to better understand and manage their environmental impact as we work together toward lower-carbon logistics.”

The launch follows the 2025 release of the company’s inaugural Sustainability Report, which tracks the progress of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.

“The Polaris Carbon Calculator marks another milestone in our company’s sustainability journey. Through innovation and collaboration, we are making a collective effort to reduce our environmental impact and create a greener future for transportation,” added Dave Cox, Polaris CEO.
