PRIVATE-FLEET TRACKING

Cancom Tracking has launched a fleet-management system especially for private fleets, utilizing QA Technologies’ highly integrated in-cab, back-office and satellite/wireless LAN solution. The joint package will include MVPc in-vehicle computers with QA’s
Accutre on-board plus AccutreQ fleet applications software for back-office
functions. This integrated application delivers driver and vehicle performance
management, electronic driver logs, fuel-tax reporting, activity management, and
GPS-based location capabilities.

The solution includes custom features and integration capabilities for corporate
processes such as dispatch, maintenance, payroll, and inventory. It enables users
to access fleet operations data and to manage distribution resources in real time, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimum fleet utilization, improved safety and reduced environmental impact, Cancom says.

Frito-Lay Canada, a division of PepsiCo, was the first user of this new integrated
system. QA Technologies is a Canadian company based in Saskatoon.

Cancom’s OmniTRACS system is a satellite-based mobile communications and tracking system that provides real-time messaging and position reporting between fleets and their operation centres. The MVPc in-vehicle computer
interfaces with OmniTRACS systems and can run hand-held PC Pro, industry, or
custom Microsoft Windows CE applications to provide in-vehicle processing power.
