Quebec firm bulks up offerings

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Laurentide Inc. has made a significant acquisition in an effort to establish more business in the trucking industry.

The manufacturer of automotive maintenance products recently acquired Solva-Net, which is the largest bulk distributor of radiator antifreeze and windshield washer solvent in Eastern Canada.

The transaction is effective Aug. 1 and the bulk service will allow Laurentide to better service large customers – such as trucking companies.

“Presently, we operate a well established retail distribution network for our radiator antifreeze and windshield washer solvent,” said André Buisson, president and COO of Laurentide. “With this acquisition, we will be poised to serve bulk customers such as transport companies, government organizations, vehicle dealerships, service stations, and others.”

The activities of Solva-Net will be transferred to the Laurentide facility in Montréal.

Solva-Net’s permanent employees will retain their jobs and the president and founder of the company — Jocelyn Tousignant — will assume responsibility for business development.
