Smart Freight Centre launches transportation analytics certificate
Smart Freight Centre is partnering with the National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders (NISCL) to offer the Smart Freight Transportation Analytics (SFTA) Certificate program in 2025.
Bernie Uhlich, NISCL chairman, shared the update during the sixth Smart Freight symposium on sustainable transportation.
He said the program, consisting of four modules, provides skills in freight analytics, planning, optimization, and environmental impact assessments, empowering participants to address real-world supply chain challenges through simulated scenarios and real-life data analytics.
“Leaders need data. Facts with our data are just in opinions. So now you’ve got data. You’ve got computers that are fast enough to do what we’ve been trying to do for the last 30-40 years, ” Uhlich said, adding that the product integrates with the NISCL professional designation system, offering CPD (continuing professional development) points and continuous learning opportunities.
The program will last several months and offers a digital badge upon completion. It will be co-taught by academics from Toronto Metropolitan, York, McMaster, and Toronto universities, as well as industry and government representatives from UPS, Purolator, and the City of Toronto’s transportation planning division.
