Transtex rolls out new DClimate Lithium Pro electric APU

Transtex has come out with a new electric auxiliary power unit (eAPU) dubbed the DClimate Lithium Pro.

Introduced at the Technology & Maintenance Council meetings, the DClimate Lithium Pro is designed to deliver greater reliability, longer runtimes and reduced emissions for fleets.

The new launch comes after Transtex purchased DClimate last June.

“The acquisition of DClimate has strengthened Transtex’s role in fleet efficiency, allowing us to better address the challenges fleets face today,” said Mathieu Desjardins, president of Transtex. “With rising fuel costs, fluctuating regulations, and growing demand for driver comfort, fleets need solutions that are both cost-effective and future ready. The DClimate Lithium Pro delivers exactly that — offering lower operating costs and a more sustainable approach to driving the future of auxiliary power.”

The new offering has a LiFePO4 battery pack paired with four starting batteries in a hybrid configuration. Features include: a 10-year system life; 15% more energy per cycle, to extend runtime; bidirectional charging between the lithium ion and starting batteries; and a 150-lb. reduction in weight.

“The DClimate Lithium Pro marks a new era in auxiliary power,” said Martin Duffy, head of Transtex’s DClimate division. “By leveraging lithium-ion technology, we’ve created a more efficient, reliable, and maintenance-friendly solution compared to traditional APU systems. Its hybrid battery configuration not only optimizes performance but also simplifies retrofitting — making it easier for fleets to install on trucks already in operation.”

Duffy said at the press conference the new eAPU boasts 6.7 kWh of energy storage. It has an auto start/stop feature to preserve energy. Jump starts are also reduced thanks to bidirectional charging between the lithium-ion and starting batteries.

A modular design allows it to be swapped out between trucks. The new eAPU will be available in the third quarter but is available for order immediately.
