Trimble Connect adds dwell time insights

by Today's Trucking

Trimble’s Connect Locations feature now allows fleets to track dwell times at customer facilities and other locations.

Average dwell time metrics draw from a database of 4.7 million North American locations. Places are coded with polygonal geofences as well as entry and exit gates, and are displayed with known location attributes such as operating hours, phone numbers, gate notes, etc.

Trimble says the polygonal geofences better reflect a location’s true size, geography and road connections. Trimble Fleet Manager combines location data with aggregate dwell time metrics so managers can better predict how long it will take to get loaded or unloaded.

“The Connected Locations integration with Trimble Fleet Manager significantly enhances our customers’ ability to manage their fleets,” said Ron Bisio, senior vice-president, Trimble. “Fleets can’t get this level of precise commercial location data anywhere else, and by leveraging the Trimble Transportation Cloud, we’re helping solve challenges around inefficient delivery, scheduling and driver utilization.”
