Spectro Scientific‘s FieldLab 58 has been upgraded to include a more powerful X-ray fluorescence (XRF) module and filter to better detect wear metals in used oil.

The analyzer integrates X-ray fluorescence for elemental analysis, a filter particle qualifier pore blockage particle counter, infrared spectrometer, and kinematic viscometer (40 Celsius). And the upgrade includes a new CRF engine that is about four times more powerful than its predecessor, the company adds, referring to the 13 elements the machine can detect.

Using just 3 milliliters of oil the equipment can generate more than 20 fluid analysis parameters in five to seven minutes.

The X-ray fluorescence and filter particle quantifier tests meet ASTM International Standard D8127.
