ELYRIA, Ohio — Vanguard National Trailer has announced that it will be making the Bendix SB-4 combination spring brake standard on all new dry van trailer models.

The spring brake assumes the standard position alongside the available Bendix ASA-5 automatic slack adjuster.

Ken Huff, representative for Vanguard Trailer, said the manufacturer made the decision based on Bendix’s reputation in the marketplace.

“We wanted the Bendix name. For a long time, the Bendix brand has been synonymous with quality,” Huff said. “That has been demonstrated through the success we’ve had with other Bendix products. Vanguard has had a very positive experience with the slack adjusters we put on our trailers, and we expect the same outstanding performance and low-cost maintenance from Bendix chambers.”

The Bendix combination spring brake contains a service brake chamber for service braking and a piggyback chamber which provides parking braking and emergency braking capabilities. It’s available in a variety of sizes.
