vHub adds GPS tracking to trailer marketplace

by Today's Trucking

vHub, an online marketplace that can be used to reposition and share trailers, is now adding precise GPS tracking to its offerings.

The system is now integrating TrackLight tail lamp GPS trailer trackers from Anytrek, along with the 4W Telematics trailer tracking system, to identify the exact location of each unit.

A  trailer renter’s traveled distance is automatically measured and billed in conjunction with the capabilities, removing the need to manually enter data. And trailer owners will in turn have a better idea of how assets are used.

The Anytrek TrackLight device incorporates a GPS module in a four-inch round or six-inch oval tail light that connects to a standard wiring harness. The power comes through the trailer’s tail and brake light circuits, and a battery that offers three months of standby power when the trailer is parked. Trailer locations are transmitted over the 4G cellular network.

vHub now makes more than 20,000 registered trailers available to short-term users.
