vHub trailer sharing platform integrates telematics

by Today's Trucking

Fleet telematics and trailer tracking systems can now be integrated into vHub, a platform used to reposition and share trailers, offering an exact GPS-based location and actual mileage of registered units.

The telematics data can identify trailers that are not in use, generating revenue opportunities for under-utilized equipment, the company says.

The integrated telematics also offers added transparency for billing based on detention time and distance traveled. And by tracking mileage per axle, no driver interaction is required.

vHub accesses GPS locations through an API with the telematics system provider’s cloud-based solution. Once the trailer is reserved through the portal, locations are made available to drivers through a mobile app.

The platform now connects more than 10,000 registered trailers.
