CBSA officers intercept two truck shipments of cocaine

by Today's Trucking

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and RCMP officers recently stopped 419 kg of suspected cocaine from entering Canada by commercial truck at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward, Ont.

The drugs have a street value of $11 million. The CBSA’s National Targeting Centre identified two commercial shipments suspected of transporting narcotics bound for Canada from the U.S.

On Feb. 27, border services officers discovered 86 kg of suspected cocaine in a truck. RCMP have charged Pawandeep Dhillon, 34, of Innisfil, Ont.

Then, on March 6, another tractor-trailer suspected of transporting drugs was sent to secondary inspection, where 333 kg of cocaine was found. The RCMP charged Ravinderbir Singh, 23, of Brampton, Ont.

Charges have not yet been proven in court.

“Strengthening Canada’s border protects Canadian communities. These significant seizures demonstrate a shared commitment to protecting North American security from organized crime groups who threaten our people,” said David McGuinty, minister of public safety and emergency preparedness, in a news release.

“I want to thank our border services officers, our Intelligence team and the National Targeting Centre, and our RCMP partners who have been ever vigilant in detecting and stopping illegal drugs from entering our country,” added Michael Prosia, regional director general, Southern Ontario region, CBSA. “Since the start of 2025, the CBSA in the Southern Ontario Region has seized over $68 million worth of narcotics coming from the United States.”

  • If the federal government Canada stopped wasting money on vacation for politicians and financing wars , maybe we could get X-ray machines at every border and port. Trudeau and now Carney have and will waste more money on carbon taxes and stealing from the poor to fill their friends pockets. Nothing to help Canadians stay safe or be more financially productive.
The liberals have been in 9 years and done nothing but waste money and cause debt , if Canadians vote Carney in as the pm of Canada they might as well pack their bags because he will sell us down a river and there will be more drugs and more crime in the country.
Safety starts at home and we have no peace at the borders in the cities or in the Small towns anymore. Wake up people. Think about the children of the future.

  • I really wish our governments would highlight the drugs and illegal immigrants coming into Canada from the US.
It’s opposite of what that orange A hole says.
We need to strengthen our borders from the US crap .

  • We (Canada) should be emphasizing the fact these seizures total significantly more in two actions then the annual total amount of fentanyl that the Orange One uses as justification for his tariffs

  • Interesting Observation.
Each article in this month’s publication of illegal contraband seized at our borders with the suspects named for allegedly importing drugs are of what community?
The South Asian community. As evidenced in these articles this is not discriminatory, but merely a statement of fact.
Maybe it is high time the judicial system takes note and rather than incarcerate these individuals after being found guilty in a court of law is to deport them rather than incur the annual expense to the Canadian taxpayer of $80,000.00 odd dollars per annum to keep them in Canada.
It seems to me we have a double standard of justice here in Canada, one for convicted drug dealers/transporters and another for the poor driver in Saskatchewan who caused the tragic loss of so many young hockey players. God rest their souls. One with malice aforethought and the other without.
