Canada adds funding to Green Freight Program
Canada’s federal government has approved $5.7 million in funding for the Green Freight Program, aimed at helping fleets reduce their fuel costs and emissions.
The cash injection came as part of a broader announcement on the country’s new automotive strategy, which brings back incentives for the purchase of electric cars and funds the further deployment of charging infrastructure.

The follow-up announcement, in addition to promising funds for the Green Freight Program, also commits $84.4 million for 122 projects to install more than 8,000 electric vehicle chargers across the country.
It is also committing $7.2 million for education and awareness projects on electric vehicles and charging.
“We know range anxiety makes it harder to choose an EV, which is why Canada is investing in our infrastructure — and with new EV chargers opening every month, we are seeing results,” said Tom Hodgson, minister of energy and natural resources.
“Canada’s new Auto Strategy, including our National Charging Infrastructure Strategy, will build on this progress by injecting a major federal investment and catalyzing private investment in EV charging.”
