VANCOUVER, B.C. — Port Metro Vancouver has won an award for environmental sustainability.
The organization was named a Corporate Knights Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leader in Canada. The award is based on 12 key performance indicators ranging from management of resources to employees and financing.
“It is a great honour to receive recognition of our environmental excellence and transparency,” said Robin Silvester, president and CEO at Port Metro Vancouver. “Port Metro Vancouver is responding to increasing demand for trade by ensuring port operations and growth are sustainability managed.”
Some of the initiatives that earned the port the award include, access to shorepower, the container truck licensing system, involvement in the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy and launch of its non-road diesel emissions program.
