Canada Cartage to acquire Coastal Pacific Xpress

Canada Cartage has entered into an agreement to acquire Coastal Pacific Xpress (CPX), a temperature-sensitive carrier based in Surrey, B.C. The acquisition is expected to close in December.

CPX, founded in 1986, specializes in refrigerated full truckload (TL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation, with additional cold storage cross-dock and warehouse facilities in Surrey and Calgary. The carrier also offers freight brokerage services and operates a fleet of nearly 600 temperature-sensitive trailers through a mix of company drivers and owner-operators.

The acquisition complements Canada Cartage’s expertise in food and beverage transportation across Eastern Canada and the coastal U.S., while CPX brings its established Western Canada and Western U.S. temperature-sensitive services to the table.

“Combined with Canada Cartage’s Eastern Canadian expertise in dedicated grocery and food deliveries, the acquisition of CPX creates a convenient and efficient national solution for companies requiring temperature-sensitive transportation,” Canada Cartage said in a release.
