Cellcentric appoints Woerner as COO, managing director

Cellcentric, the fuel cell joint venture between Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, has appointed Kai Woerner as chief operating officer (COO) and managing director.

Woerner joins the management board with operational experience gained through senior leadership roles at Bosch. Most recently, he served as COO for Europe and the U.S. at AESC, a global supplier of battery systems for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

At Bosch, Woerner held several leadership roles, including overseeing process and machine development for injection systems at the company’s Bamberg, Germany, facility. He later led Bosch’s Charleston, S.C., site before supervising the Hildesheim, Germany, plant.

“I am delighted to be able to contribute my experience and ideas to cellcentric as chief operating officer,” Woerner said in a news release.

Nicholas Loughlan, managing director, chief technology officer, and spokesperson for Cellcentric’s management board, added, “[Woerner’s] huge and also broad experience in the field of production and production technology will be a fantastic asset for Cellcentric…We are happy to have him with Cellcentric and in the management board of our company, joining Niklas Ekstroem as our CFO, and myself.”
