STUTTGART, GERMANY – Martin Daum will lead Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses as a member of the board of management effective March 1, the company has announced. The appointment is for five years.

DaumDaum has been president and Chief Executive Officer of Daimler Trucks North America since 2009, overseeing Freightliner, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner Custom Chassis, and Detroit Diesel. Prior to that he was a member of the management team at Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Europe, and vice president – production for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, as well as being responsible for the world’s biggest truck plant in Worth.

He replaces Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, who announced earlier this year that he is leaving the role for personal reasons.

“With Martin Daum, we are appointing a very successful and experienced executive to the Board of Management as Head of the Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses divisions,” said Dr. Manfred Bischoff, chairman of Daimler AG’s Supervisory Board. “He looks back on 20 years of experience in the industry and knows the cyclical commercial-vehicle business from all perspectives. We are convinced that he will successfully meet the upcoming challenges in the next years, continue along the successful path of Daimler Trucks and Buses and further strengthen their worldwide leading positions.”
