Gonzalez joins Cespira as president, CEO
Cespira, the joint venture between Volvo Group and Westport Fuel Systems, has announced the appointment of Carlos Gonzalez as president and chief executive officer (CEO), effective April 1.
Gonzalez succeeds Dan Sceli, who has served as interim president since Cespira’s founding in June 2024. Sceli will remain involved as a member of the board of directors, the company said in a news release.
Gonzalez has more than 24 years of leadership experience in the automotive and commercial vehicle sectors.
Most recently, he served as vice-president and global key account executive for the Traton Group at ZF. His career also includes roles at General Dynamics ELS, Continental AG, and Lear Corporation.
“His unwavering commitment to sustainability and exceptional leadership align perfectly with Cespira’s mission to revolutionize the heavy-duty transport sector,” Sceli said in a release.
“I am thrilled to join this exceptional team in their mission to decarbonize the industry with cost-efficient technology that is perfectly suited for heavy-duty applications,” Gonzalez added. “With a focus on customer satisfaction, environmental sustainability, and fleet efficiency, we will deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry.”
The Cespira JV is exploring bringing to market high-pressure direct injection engines powered by zero-emission fuels such as hydrogen.
