Networking event planned for women drivers
OTTAWA, ON – Trucking HR Canada will host a networking event for female truck drivers on Saturday, November 12 as part of its ongoing Women with Drive initiative.
Known as Driver Connect and Share, it will run from 9 am to 1 pm at the Sandman Signature Hotel Toronto Airport.
“The Driver Connect and Share event is a direct response to feedback we continue to receive that female drivers want something specific to their issues,” says Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada.
The program will also include a familiar face for Today’s Trucking readers. Joanne Millen-Mackenzie – Canada’s first female Highway Star of the Year – will open the event that also includes a panel discussion with mentors and proteges sharing experiences.
The broader Women with Drive initiative focuses on ways to attract, recruit and retain more women in the trucking industry. Today, a mere 3% of Canada’s truck drivers are women.
Related resources from Trucking HR Canada include My Toolbox for Mentoring Women, which offers guidance around effective and practical approaches to mentorship, and an Inventory of Resources which focus supporting women. Trucking HR Canada has also produced a video highlighting the role of women in the trucking industry.
