OBCCTC announces 2.1% rate increase for container truck drivers in B.C.’s Lower Mainland
The Office of the British Columbia Container Trucking Commissioner (OBCCTC) has announced a 2.1% increase to minimum regulated rates for container truck drivers operating to and from the Vancouver marine terminal and within the Lower Mainland, effective July 1.
The adjustment reflects the 2025 annual average increase in the B.C. consumer price index, a benchmark the OBCCTC committed to using for future rate updates.

Under the new minimum regulated rates, Company drivers and indirectly employed operators must be paid at least $36.03 per hour. Drivers with fewer than 2,340 hours of experience will receive $34.56 hourly rate until reaching that threshold.
Independent operators must be paid at least $75.05 per hour. Those with fewer than 2,340 hours of experience will receive $73.04 per hour until reaching the required number of hours.
Trip-based independent operator rates in the Lower Mainland will also increase by 2.1%.
“This increase will ensure drivers’ wages keep pace with increases in the cost of living and the cost of operating a truck,” Commissioner Glen MacInnes said in a news release. “The new rates allow the drayage sector in the Lower Mainland to remain competitive with other jurisdictions and ensure that drivers and companies have fair and predictable wage increases.”
