OTA names new VP

TORONTO, (June 30, 2005) — Stephen Laskowski has been promoted to vice-president of the Ontario Trucking Association.

In his new position, Laskowski will take a leading role in the day-to-day operation and strategic planning of OTA. He succeeds Barrie Montague, whose career in the trucking industry spans over 35 years. Montague will be staying on as a senior policy advisor.

Laskowski joined OTA in 1994 and held progressively more responsible positions. In his most recent role, he served as assistant vice-president.

Described by the OTA as a passionate and knowledgeable defender of industry interests, Laskowski is well-regarded in industry and government circles. He has spent a significant amount of time in recent years on intermodal, environmental and tax issues. He has also built a solid understanding of issues at the major Ontario-U.S. border crossings.

Like OTA President David Bradley, Laskowski also wears both an OTA hat and a Canadian Trucking Alliance hat (he is CTA vice president of economic affairs).
